(UPDATE)We have had a very good response for our upcoming trip to Bayou Lacombe. I anticipate that we will have 12-15 yachts participating and others coming by car.

Many of you were not on our original e-mail list and did not receive the previous mailing.
Our plans are to leave SYC at 1000hrs on Sat. March 31 and proceed directly to
Bayou Lacombe. The bayou entrance channel is marked by 2 red marks No.s 2 and 4
and one green mark No. 5 located on the west bank of the mouth of the bayou.
The channel does not run straight as you might expect and if you proceed
straight up the channel you may see as little as 3ft. If you leave the No.4
mark approximately 100ft. to starboard and head directly toward the No.5 mark
you should maintain 6ft. of water. At 200ft. before the No.5 mark steer more
easterly to the center of the bayou. Please refer to the graphic on the SYC
website under the "Spring Rendezvous" event and this may make more sense. We
hope to be able to put out a couple of markers (bleach bottles) marked SYC at
the sites where you turn to stay in deep water (6ft).

Since the club is going to be preparing dinner for us it is very important that we have
an accurate head count. Please respond to this mailing with your yacht length
and number of people joining us for dinner. I would like to have all yachts tie
up to the large dock on the east side of Scott's harbor. The harbor entrance is
on the west shore of the bayou just before the Tammany Trace Bicycle Trail.
There will be an SYC sign at the entrance. Please have an hors d'oeuvres for
cocktail hour and bring some lawn chairs for Bocce Ball and Horseshoes. All
yachts will be responsible for your liquor and other provisions.

Once again please refer to the SYC website for channel information and directions to
Scott's house by auto.

SYC will host a spring fleet rendezvous at the beautiful home of Scott Chotin on picturesque Bayou Lacombe on March 31, 2012.  There are many details to work out but our plans are to have power yacht as well as sailing yacht fleets.Currently we are anticipating a staggered-start race for the sailing fleet to theoretically arrive at the Bayou Lacombe channel marker at the same time.  Start times are to be announced.  The power yacht fleet will leave the SYC Harbor at 1000 hours.

Scott Chotin has a magnificent piece of property with a private harbor just before the Highway 190 Bridge.  Details of location and draft requirements
will follow.  All boats will raft together for an evening of fun, food and camaraderie. The SYC staff plans to bring the Cajun Oven for roasting a pig with all of the "fixins."

Stay tuned to next month's Tell-Tale for further details or visit the SYC website for more information as it becomes available. If you would like to participate please send contact information to Ed Boos at the SYC office or email to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
