National Sailing Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony - October 27, 2013
ANNAPOLIS, MD - A contingent from Southern Yacht Club joined other yachting dignitaries at the third annual National Sailing Hall of Fame induction ceremony, held this year at the Hall of Fame's facility in Annapolis. While there, a match race had been arranged between the New York Yacht Club and SYC representatives, to be sailed in the Hall of Fame's matched pair of Chesapeake Bay Sandbagger replicas, the BULL and the BEAR.
The Southern team defeated New York, two races to one, in the series. Representing SYC was skipper Tommy Meric and a crew including Commodores Julian Richards and Corky Potts, as well as, Kyle Smith, Bob Kottler and Guy Brierre. NYYC’s team included skipper, and veteran America's Cup tactician, Gary Jobson. Look for an article in an upcoming Tell-Tale and view Guy Brierre's “head-cam” video of the racing LINKED HERE .
