 The
2012 SYC Lipton Team Eliminations were held August 4th and 5th. The Race
Committee, led by Commodore Bill Wright and his team, held races in
challenging conditions with light air and summer storms rolling in often
disrupting the racing and having the fleet sail back to the harbor for shelter
several times.
A double round robin was sailed. Rear-Commo. Scott Sonnier with crew
Shelby Friedrichs III and Scotty Sonnier topped the leaderboard. Dwight LeBlanc
IV with his father Commo. Dwight LeBlanc III and Davis Friend were second.
Michael Levert with Jon Nunn and brother Edward Levert were third and rounding out the team was Patrick Ryan, brother Mason Ryan and Carson Haddow.
The alternate skipper is Daniel Meade with Neil Gahagan and Deborah Willits as
crew. Other team members include: Norman Vallette, Jr., Carlyle Herbert, Thomas
Meric, Julian Richards III, Ross Kirk, Kale Killeen, Shelby Friedrichs IV,
Roddy Steiffel, Emma Steiffel and Laura LeBlanc.
The 2012 GYA Sir Thomas Lipton Challenge will be hosted by Pass Christian YC over Labor Day Weekend, Sep 1-3.
