Regata al Sol Launches Web Site PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 25 May 2011
ras_logo_sun__woman.png There is a new micro-site for the biennial Regata al Sol. The web address is www.regataalsol.org.

Here is a message from regatta Co-Chair, Guy Brierre:

On behalf of the Regata al Sol Committee I am pleased to present our new website at www.regataalsol.org

We are still a work in progress but we hope you will enjoy this website. Our goal is for the website to encourage participation, be a tool for dissemination of information for the upcoming regatta in which starts May 9-10, 2012 and be a repository of archival information dating back to the first regatta in 1965. The website will also be an enhanced tool for potential sponsors.

There are still corrections to be made and more information to be added, so visit the website often. We NEED YOUR HELP!:

  • Keep sending pictures! We received a bunch of pictures from 2010 and over time will get them on the website. I am also interested in getting pictures from the "old days"!
  • If you look at the page "Winning Boats" http://www.regataalsol.org/history_boats.html you will see we do not have complete historical information. If you can fill in the blanks, please do so and send them on.
  • I am looking for complete results pre-1994.
  • If you have any other feedback or suggestions, please send them to me.

Please consider registering for the Safety at Sea Seminar to be held at SYC on Saturday September 17th.  We are also close to finalizing a USCG certified CPR/First Aid seminar on Sunday the 18th so come spend the weekend in New Orleans!  Many big offshore races require at least one crewmember on each participating boat to have these certifications. The Regata al Sol Committee is still finalizing the requirements for 2012 and it may include a requirement of that sort. Safety at Sea certifications are good for 5 years.

Thanks to all!
Guy P. Brierre
